Drug abuse amongst children and adolescents in the North East is a major societal problem. Praiselyson Lyngskor fell into the same rut himself, and used music as a means to get himself out of it. He hopes he can continue to do the same for the kids who form one of the North East's youngest rap crews: Symphonic Movement.
When we asked rapper Feyago to journey through North East India to create an iconic hip hop anthem, he began his journey in his home town of Kolkata. Talking to us about his roots, and how he got started in the music industry, Feyago set off for Shantiniketan, looking for a Baul folk singer - one of Bengal's oldest forms of music.

Laying the groundwork for an epic hip hop track to represent the North East. Rapper Feyago began his journey to create a hip hop anthem for the North East in Kolkata. Starting with renowned producer Sunnah Beats (one half of the internationally acclaimed duo StunnahSez Beatz), he sets off for Shillong, looking for the artists who make up the hip hop scene in the region.

How insurgency in the region inspired a new breed of hip hop music. Continuing his journey to create a hip hop anthem for the North East, rapper Feyago heads out to meet the Khasi Bloodz, one of the most prolific rap crews in the region. Comprising members D-bok (Donbok Kharkongor), D-mon (Lamonte Pakyntein) and Big Ri (Ritik Roy Malngiang), the crew prides itself on representing the Khasi tribe. Rapping in their native language of Khasi, they hope to promote their roots and their culture to a younger generation, in a form that they would be receptive to.

One of India's most talented b-boys tells us about the struggle to find his identity through hip hop. Hip hop can manifest the best or the worst in a person. For 20 year old b-boy Joerin Kimo, it has done both. Quoting scripture, B-Boy Kim describes how he initially fell into a life of sin, and let that sin take control of him. At this young age, Kim is father to a 3-year old daughter.
